East Java Governor Soekarwo set outbreaks (epidemics) of diphtheria throughout East Java. This was done because in the last 10 months the disease that strikes children aged 1-10 years it has killed 328 children.
To that end, the Provincial Government will hold a mass vaccination in some regions the spread of diphtheria, especially in 11 districts / cities of Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Mojokerto, Bangkalan, Sampang, Sumenep, Pamekasan, Blitar, Gresik, and Banyuwangi. Vaccination will be carried out starting Monday.
